Lockout / Tagout
Digital LOTO, zero shortcuts
OSHA-compliant lockout/tagout from procedure authoring through execution to restoration. Energy source identification, isolation points, step-by-step guidance on tablet, photo capture, and full audit trail.
How it works
PulsePlant handles LOTO the way OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 actually expects it to work. Every procedure documents every energy source — electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal, chemical, gravitational, stored, other — with voltage, pressure, temperature, and hazard level. Every isolation point lists the method (breaker, valve, blind flange, double block and bleed), the verification method, and the lock/tag requirement.
Procedures move through Draft → Pending Approval → Approved → Active with full revision history. Each edit tracks version, change type, and detailed diff. Previous versions are preserved for audit. Equipment-to-procedure links support primary and alternate procedures for partial vs. full isolation.
Execution is a guided, step-by-step workflow optimized for tablet use in the field. Authorization notifies all affected personnel. Lockout applies locks and tags at each isolation point with photos captured for each. Stored energy dissipation is documented. Zero-energy verification tests every source and fails the execution if anything is still live. Work proceeds. Restoration happens in reverse order with lock removal tracked per person.
Group lockout boxes support multiple workers each applying their own lock — no one can remove the group lockout until everyone has removed theirs. Active executions show on a real-time dashboard so supervisors know which equipment is locked out right now and by whom. Every action is logged with user, timestamp, and evidence for OSHA compliance audits.
What you get
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 aligned
Energy source identification, isolation methods, verification, and restoration — all per the standard.
9 energy source types
Electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal, chemical, gravitational, stored, other.
Approval + versioning
Procedures move Draft to Active with full revision history and detailed change tracking.
Tablet execution
Large touch controls, step-by-step guided flow, barcode/QR scanning, offline support for field use.
Photo capture at every step
Locks, tags, verification readings, restoration — all photographed for compliance evidence.
Zero-energy verification
Every isolation point tested for zero energy; failed verifications block work progress.
Group lockout
Multiple workers apply personal locks to a lockout box; no one removes the group lock prematurely.
Active executions dashboard
Real-time view of every locked-out asset across the facility with duration and personnel.
PDF export
Generate laminated field copies of any procedure with energy sources, isolation points, and sign-off blocks.
DOCX import
Import existing LOTO procedures from Word documents — the system parses and maps content automatically.
Common ways it's used
Works alongside
All modulesSafety & Compliance
Protect people, prove compliance
A unified safety platform covering incidents, hazards, inspections, and training. Built around OSHA-standard metrics, structured investigation workflows, and the risk assessment matrix your safety team already knows.
Equipment & Assets
Every asset, every detail, every repair
A complete asset registry that tracks every piece of plant equipment from installation through decommissioning. Know where it is, who's worked on it, what it costs, and what parts it needs — all in one place.
Work Orders
From request to close-out, nothing dropped
The operational backbone of the plant. Every maintenance activity runs through a single lifecycle — from the first request through assignment, execution, verification, and closure — with labor, parts, and costs tracked the whole way.
Documents
Every drawing, manual, and cert in one place
Central document management with version control, entity linking, full-text search, and expiration tracking. Attach documents to equipment, work orders, POs, LOTO procedures — wherever they belong.
