How it works

Administration in PulsePlant is where the platform gets tuned to your plant. Role-based access control provides fine-grained permission management with ten standard roles — admin, manager, supervisor, technician, planner, viewer, requester, purchasing manager, inventory manager, maintenance manager — each with configurable permission sets. Every action in the system routes through a `resource:action` permission check, enforced at the navigation, page, API, UI, and service layers.

User management covers creation, editing, role assignment, activation, and deactivation. Deactivation preserves historical data but immediately cuts access. Location management organizes the plant hierarchy into areas, buildings, floors, rooms, and functional locations with budget-area flagging for cost centers.

Settings cover every module — work order numbering and approvals, PM auto-generation and lead time, inventory alerts and auto-reorder, purchasing approval thresholds, safety escalation, and document retention. Feature flags let admins enable or disable specific functionality during rollout without code changes.

A comprehensive audit log tracks every meaningful action across the system — user logins, record changes, approvals, status transitions, configuration changes, system events. Events are immutable, timestamped, and attributed to the acting user. A timeline view and a list view give different angles on the same data. The event detail dialog shows the full metadata and field-level diff for any change.

Personal dashboards let every user customize their home screen. Widget management picks what shows up; the dashboard itself handles drag-and-drop reordering. Role-based defaults provide a starting layout for each role.

Notifications reach users through four channels — in-app, email, push, and SMS — with per-user preferences by category and type. Quiet hours suppress non-urgent notifications during off-hours. Over 40 email templates cover every operational module with admin-manageable content and a delivery queue for monitoring.
