How it works
High-value components don't get thrown away when they fail — they come out, go to the shop, and come back in service. PulsePlant tracks each one individually by serial number so you always know where a specific unit is, how many times it's been repaired, what each repair cost, and whether it's still worth fixing.
The lifecycle is explicit: Available → In Use → In Repair → Repair Complete → Available. Inside-repair jobs use an internal work order. Outside-repair jobs use a supplier requisition and PO. Either way, the system tracks shipping, turnaround, cost, and quality notes against the serial number — not just the SKU.
Stock accounting is clean by design. Stock decrements only at serialization or direct issue, never during the repair cycle, so you never double-count the same physical unit. A reliability score per serial helps you make repair-vs-replace decisions with data instead of guesses.
