Optional Modules

Opt in when you need them, off by default

Flag-controlled optional modules that expand PulsePlant for specific customer needs — work order requisitions, custom T&Cs, buyer assignment, TAR management, approval email delay. Zero impact when off.

How it works

Not every plant needs every capability. PulsePlant keeps the core lean by shipping certain advanced capabilities behind feature flags that default to off. Turn them on when you need them, turn them off when you don't, and zero code or database changes happen either way.

Current optional modules include Work Order Requisitions (work orders can generate purchase requisitions directly), Custom T&Cs (configurable terms and conditions on POs per supplier or per PO), Buyer Assignment (dedicated buyer per commodity category for PO routing), TAR Management (turnaround planning module with its own landing page at /apps/tar-management), and Approval Email Delay (cooldown period between approval submissions to prevent spam).

Every flag is reversible. Every flag logs its state changes to the audit log. Enabled modules show up in navigation and settings only for users with permission.

What you get

Feature-flag controlled

Every optional module is a flag that defaults off and can be toggled with no code changes.

Reversible at any time

Turn a module off and its UI disappears without affecting underlying data.

Audited toggles

Flag state changes log to the events audit trail with user and timestamp.

Permission-gated visibility

Enabled modules only surface to users with the right permissions.

Zero impact when off

Disabled modules have no performance, no UI presence, and no dependency footprint.

Common ways it's used

Enabling TAR management only during turnaround planning seasons
Piloting work order requisitions in one department before rolling out site-wide
Satisfying customer-specific contractual requirements without custom code
Keeping the UI focused on what each customer actually uses
